I raced my first Ironman triathlon when I was 13-years-old, turned pro at 17, and continued racing professionally throughout my 20s and 30s. But I swear if I would have dropped the running and swimming and just focused on cycling I could have won a lot more races in my career.
I’ve always loved cycling. Well, maybe not as much when I was suffering through an Eco-Challenge with some crazy Fijian stomach virus, but otherwise pretty much always loved cycling.
And that’s a big part of what has driven our sponsorship of the Santa Barbara 100 cycling event. Santa Barbara is an absolutely epic location for cyclists. Long winding roads, perfect weather year-round, killer views, and brutal climbs – what’s not to love?
If you ride a bike, or if you’re even considering riding a bike, you gotta check out this event. I’m of course totally biased with this being my home course, but also because the SB100 is a charity event that gives its entire profit to local charities. The Cottage Children’s Medical Center in Santa Barbara is an amazing facility that is helping kids and their families every day. Definitely worthy of our support.
And that’s another reason I love cycling. Because the sport is full of people who give back to charities like Cottage. Who care about living a healthy lifestyle and about looking out for others. Here at Silver Air we believe in these values, and so do many of our clients. It’s a big part of what makes this such a special team.
So if you love cycling, or maybe just like it a little, or even if you’re just looking for a way to support a good cause and get some exercise, check out the SB100. Come out to Santa Barbara and ride with us. Better yet, sign up for the SB100 Flyer’s Club, charter a flight, and we’ll come pick you and your bike up and bring you out!
